BIG NEWS! Olivia was transferred out of Boston Children’s NICU and over to Franciscan Children’s in Brighton today! She is no longer in a hospital – she’s in rehab, which is a shocking realization. This is the next step towards coming home. Becky and Max have such mixed emotions about leaving BCH. Olivia’s team at Children’s, especially her nurses, have left a deep imprint on their hearts these last 106 days (total time at BCH NICU). They sent us off waving ribbon wands, cheering, and singing as we walked with Olivia’s transport team to the elevator. We will never forget that these individuals are literal superheroes. The nurses, NPs, doctors, RTs, social worker, child life specialist, music therapist. We are in awe of everything they have given us – our baby girl. We are beyond grateful for how they have saved Olivia’s life, and helped her grow. They have also helped us through some insanely hard times. The best way we can thank them is to continue learning how to care for Olivia and help her thrive.
- Olivia weighs 4.2 kg, or 9lbs 4oz – more than 6x her birth weight
- This week before leaving BCH, Becky and Max learned how to do a trach change. Becky officially changed one for the first time with the assistance of the respiratory therapist. Max will get the opportunity to change her trach soon. Thankfully, it was easier than expected!
Becky and Max are ready to dive into learning at Franciscan Children’s – the faster they learn all the machines and emergency scenarios, the faster Olivia can come home.
The walk is THIS Sunday!
We have one more chance to thank Boston Children’s for everything they’ve done for our girl!
Fantastic news! I’m so happy for all of you.
