July 10 Update

July 10 Update
I can't make a silly caption about this, she's just beautiful!!

Sunday, Becky and Max celebrated Olivia’s homecoming in different ways:

Becky had a beautiful baby shower with some family and friends, with a Lion King/jungle theme (same as Olivia’s nursery!). She had a great time opening all the generous gifts for Olivia. Other than all of the amazing books received, the 5’ tall giraffe was quite the hit!

She’s wanted a giant stuffed giraffe her entire life!

Max hosted a “Dudes and Diapers” event. The dudes pulled through with what was estimated to be six months of diapers and wipes.

Dudeless Diapers…

Several more nursery items are arriving in the next two weeks, and Max and Becky cannot wait to fully set up Olivia’s room! It’s finally starting to feel real for them.

Olivia Updates

  • M&B had their training on the home vent on Friday, and will have training on the other equipment on Tuesday
  • Becky will do her 48-hour in-house stay Wed-Fri, and then Max will do his Fri-Sun.
  • Olivia now weighs 5.085 kg, or 11 lbs 3 oz
  • She has started on a 6-week course of Omeprazole (Prilosec) to help limit the acidity in her stomach and hopefully reduce the number of times she vomits per day.
  • Olivia turned 200 days old on July 8th!
Anya can’t wait to meet her sister in a few weeks!
(And she thinks there should be more pics of her in this blog!)
  • Olivia is now up to FOUR HOURS off the vent!
  • Today she even got to try a PMV (Passey Muir Valve), otherwise known as a speaking valve
    • She was only on it for five minutes, but we will work on building that up over time
    • It is a one-way valve, so she can breathe in through it, but has to exhale out of her nose and mouth rather than through the trach. This allows air to pass over her vocal cords, and allow her to make noise! She didn’t have much to say today, but we are excited to hear her in the future.
That’s all for now. Goodnight from me and Daddy!

Wonderful progress! She is also such a cutie.
I’m still praying, now that her transition to home will go smoothly.
