Olivia was moved from the Hi-Fi ventilator to a conventional one on 1/29 at night, which was an amazing surprise when Becky came in to visit her. The room is so much quieter now!
This is going to allow the team to give her inhaled drugs (similar to what you might use if you had asthma)
This also means that she will be able to be transported to Children’s in the future for a PDA surgery
Olivia weighs 1700 grams, which the team isn’t sure is so accurate (because of her swelling)…we will keep you posted
She received a blood transfusion
She will be starting on a daily diuretic to help with the swelling, which did look much better
The team is reducing her feeds to help with the swelling as well
On this ventilator, she can move around much easier which helps with the swelling as well
Olivia is being weaned off the morphine, of which she has been on a constant drip for weeks
Best news of all? Becky got to hold Olivia on 1/30. She was swaddled to keep her from moving around too much, which was adorable. Becky even got to pick her up from the isolette and put her back, with directions on “how” from the nurse and respiratory therapist. It was a wonderful hour that we hope can be repeated much more frequently.
Stop making my cry happy tears!!! ❤️ actually no.. keep the happy tears coming
