Jan 22-24 General Notes

  • Olivia is 5 weeks old today, and weighs 3 pounds – double her birth weight
  • She had been doing well on the steroids but had a very difficult night – her respiratory needs went way up to require 100% supplementary oxygen
    • The team wasn’t sure what happened, but proactively started her on antibiotics and paused her feeds
    • They added inhaled nitric oxide gas to lower her lung blood pressure
    • At 6pm, Becky and Max received a phone call letting them know that Olivia has a bacterial infection in her blood. The antibiotics she was on will help fight that, but once again this means there was a reason for the dramatic step back, which is a minor relief
  • Olivia received a blood transfusion and a dose of the diuretic to help her swelling
  • She had two lung x-rays today, with the second showing her lungs looking better than the first
  • Olivia’s feeds restarted this morning, but they are small
  • PDA treatment – Tylenol was discontinued; it did not seem to be affecting the PDA so entire treatment is paused
  • Olivia’s PCR came back Covid-negative

In other news…

  • Max and Becky are reunited since he has tested positive for Covid.
  • Auntie Amanda drove in to visit Olivia and facetime with her parents, which they loved
