- Olivia is 5 weeks old today, and weighs 3 pounds – double her birth weight
- She had been doing well on the steroids but had a very difficult night – her respiratory needs went way up to require 100% supplementary oxygen
- The team wasn’t sure what happened, but proactively started her on antibiotics and paused her feeds
- They added inhaled nitric oxide gas to lower her lung blood pressure
- At 6pm, Becky and Max received a phone call letting them know that Olivia has a bacterial infection in her blood. The antibiotics she was on will help fight that, but once again this means there was a reason for the dramatic step back, which is a minor relief
- Olivia received a blood transfusion and a dose of the diuretic to help her swelling
- She had two lung x-rays today, with the second showing her lungs looking better than the first
- Olivia’s feeds restarted this morning, but they are small
- PDA treatment – Tylenol was discontinued; it did not seem to be affecting the PDA so entire treatment is paused
- Olivia’s PCR came back Covid-negative
