January 21, 2023 Who's birthday is it? Mine!
- On January 20, Olivia turned one month old – such an exciting milestone
- She is almost double her birth weight at 2lb 15 oz
- Olivia is having some nasal secretions; Children’s Hospital is going to weigh in on those
- PDA
- It’s still large, so the team has decided to try a 7-day course of acetaminophen to treat it, which sometimes works
- If that doesn’t solve the problem, she will need a minimally invasive procedure that involves placing a catheter in the PDA to close it up
- This would take place at Children’s Hospital, which means she would need to be moved. This can’t happen while she is on her current ventilator, so she needs to be weaned off it first.
- To try to help out Olivia’s lungs and wean her off the HiFi ventilator, she is starting her steroid course on 1/21 – this won’t be a silver bullet, but we’ve been waiting for this to start for a while and seems like it will be the best thing for her
In other news….
- Becky tested positive for Covid on 1/19, but hadn’t been to see Olivia since 1/17. Max played it safe and hasn’t had physical contact with Olivia since 1/16, and is so far testing negative. Olivia has now tested negative for both the rapid-test and PCR, thank goodness.
- Becky is miserable, and can’t visit Olivia until 1/28.
- Max is isolating 30 miles away from Becky in the hopes he doesn’t catch it.
- The NICU has been great about sending photos and letting Becky and Max facetime their baby for a little bit each day
- Auntie Amanda was able to visit Olivia today and tell her how much her parents miss her.
