Dec 28 3:30 PM – NICU Visit

  • Circulatory/Medicinal
    • Olivia’s PICC line has been successfully placed!
      • We arrived just before the procedure and stayed until it was complete
      • The procedure took about an hour.
      • We will need to have a confirming ultrasound tomorrow, but the initial x-ray looked great.
    • Before the PICC line was placed, we discussed Olivia’s “fragile veins” after last night’s unsuccessful PICC line placement
      • Confirmed that this procedure will be tough on olivia’s veins but it should heal.
      • They will need to confirm the placement with a chest echo (ultrasound)
      • PICC line will remain in as long as IV drugs are needed
        • Doctors estimate this to continue to be 5-7 days after PDA treatment is completed
  • No other major Updates. Olivia had a quiet relaxing day. She pooped!
  • We were told to get a “heartbeat bear” or other kind of toy that has sound effects that replicate the “sounds of the womb”….
