Oh, hi!
  • Olivia had an up-and-down last few days.
  • Olivia continues to successfully wean off her sedation, and has less than a week left to go before being completely off of morphine. She is showing some moderate signs of withdrawal, so the team is taking it slow, giving her days off as needed.
The wonder of a child. (The second tube is for temporary suction of air in her stomach)
  • Olivia had an aspiration event overnight on 4/28. She was extremely uncomfortable and requiring significantly higher support. The doctors decided to do a chest X-Ray, which uncovered a large collapsed section of her lungs.
  • Olivia went on antibiotics, stopped her feeds, and needed her stomach emptied via vacuum, but she showed incredible resilience and was back to her baseline settings within 36 hours!
I love you Mommy!
  • Olivia is still having digestive issues with inconsistent stooling, but her belly is much less tight, and she appears more comfortable overall.
  • She has had a few bradycardia events (her heart rate has dipped extremely low) in the last few days, so the team is keeping an eye on her. They are attributing it to some of her medications, and disliking when her trach tube is suctioned.
Oma and Opa got me right to sleep!
  • Olivia’s retinas have fully matured and are not at risk of developing ROP (retinal separation due to prematurity)
  • Olivia is showing strong signs of development. She is reacting to sounds and visual stimuli, and is making strong progress with oral/feeding skills. She especially loves to munch on Mom and Dad’s fingers!
Mommy’s finger tastes yummy!
  • As Olivia stabilizes, she will eventually be moved to a rehab facility in the area. We expect her to bounce back to BCH a few times for procedures and more intense observation as needed.
  • More family has had the chance to hold her, which she loves!
Mommy and Daddy love me so much!
